5K Visionary Challenge

Proceeds Benefit the NALS of Michigan Scholarship Program to assist students in furthering their legal education.

All registered adult participants will receive a “Grab Bag” and t shirt.  T-shirt sizes Small, Medium, Large  and XL for adults only.

Awards will go to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place men, women and children under 12.

The Course is 100% off road and the weather will affect the course so be prepared. Walking is allowed, but strollers are not recommended due to the terrain conditions.  Timing will be provided by Endurance Evolution. 

Come out and have some fun and support the NALS of Michigan Scholarship Program.

Empower 5K

On Saturday, September 30th, NMC Student Life in partnership with NMC student group, Voices, will host Walk, Run, Empower, a 5K Run/Walk to both raise awareness and to help end sexual violence. Sexual violence is a prevalent issue both on and off college campuses, and it is extremely important to raise community awareness in order to generate change. Walk, Run, Empower was created with that intention, while also bringing together Northwestern Michigan College and the community in a fun, exciting, and active way. All proceeds will benefit NMC Voices to further their advocacy and support for student survivors of sexual violence.
The 5K will start at and end on College Drive; the race begins at 9:00am. Cash and checks can be made payable to NMC (subject memo: Voices) and will be accepted on the day of the race. Participants can enjoy free snacks and refreshments, while connecting with many of our student organizations, campus resources, and community collaborators before and after the race. Registration fee is $15 for students and $20 for faculty, staff, and community members. Entry fee also includes a Walk, Run, Empower 5K race t-shirt!
Please join us as a runner, walker, volunteer or supporter for this 5K benefit race. You can sign up to participate in the race, to be a volunteer, or to have a table, using the links below. We will also have same day registration, which will begin at 8am the morning of the race.

Sleeping bear Marathon

Sleeping Bear Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5K
October 7, 2017

Join us for a scenic marathon, half marathon, and 5k run/walk in the heart of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. All races start and finish in Empire, MI. The out-and-back marathon course will take runners by the “Dune Climb”, past Little Glen Lake, and through the village of Glen Arbor with breathtaking views of the Manitou Islands and Sleeping Bear Dunes along the way. The half marathon and 5k will follow the same course as the marathon, with the half marathon turning around at the 6.5 mile mark, and the 5k turning around at 1.5 miles. At the peak of fall color season, the tree-lined course will be one that both runners and spectators won’t soon forget. See why Good Morning America calls this area one of the most beautiful in the United States.

Orchards at Sunset 5K

Welcome to the 3rd Annual Orchards at Sunset 5K.

The setting for this exciting event is the Gregory/Miezio Farm at 3672 Stowe Road in Suttons Bay. Racers will begin on a hilltop in the heart of Leelanau County surrounded by Lake Michigan and Grand Traverse Bay views. Orchards at Sunset 5K will meander through apple and cherry orchards as well as local vineyards. The terrain will vary from maintained paths to grassy hillsides. Participants will get the unique experience of running through some of Northern Michigan’s most beautiful countryside at sunset. Parking will be available at the location of the event.

Race starts at 7:15 p.m.

Come light up the night at our first ever Memorial 5K Glow Run in Elk Rapids, MI. Just a few miles north of Traverse City, this cute little waterfront village is the perfect back drop to our family and pet friendly 5K to benefit Hospice of Michigan.

Not a runner? That's ok, you can walk the 5K or you can turn around at the 1 mile marker, whatever makes you the most comfortable. 

The 5K will start at the AMVETS building, 410 Bridge Street, and go through downtown, across the river and out N. Bayshore Dr, then turn around and come back to the AMVETS. We encourage you to bring your family, friends, and dogs!

Best in Glow Contest 6:30 p.m.

Are you the brightest? Wear your brightest clothes, cover yourself in glow sticks, paint your face in glow paint, whatever it takes to win this contest. Register at the event, prizes will be given out for the winners in the following categories:

Best Glow Kid (12 and under)
Best Glow Teen (13-19)
Best Glow Adult (20+)

After Glow Party

Join us after the race for a black-light filled party! If your legs aren't too tired you can dance to the music of (TBD), or just hang out with friends and enjoy the music, food, and beverages.

Memorial Tree

Don't forget to stop by our Memorial Tree located inside the AMVETS building. You can write a message, a name, or place a picture on a leaf and place it on the tree to remember your special someone.

Visit the Pet Station

Bringing your four legged friend? Stop by our pet station for a treat and drink of water before and after the race. We have a special photo booth so you can have your picture taken with your furry friend.

Race, Remember, and Fundraise

Through your support, participation, and additional fundraising, more patients will receive the necessary treatments, medications, and services they need at the end of life.

By fundraising you help us to continue to meet the needs of all patients and their families. The funds you raise can help in numerous ways. Not only will they ensure those left behind receive the help they need to cope, they also provide additional support for the unmet needs of patients and their families in Northwest Michigan.

VASA Trail Run

A fun, scenic Novomber run to keep you motivated through the fall months! 

RF Events presents Run Vasa! A beautiful 5K, 10K and 25K run through the Vasa Head Trail in Northern Michigan. If it snows, not to worry, it keeps the wimps at home! Bring it on!

Vasa is a nice wide, beautiful trail with all the beauty northern Michigan has to offer. Soon to be your favorite trail to run!

Michigan’s premier cross-country trail through the pristine serenity of the Pere’ Marquette State Forest of Northern Michigan.

Maintained by dedicated volunteers and supported by public donations, the Vasa Pathway is operated by the Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation Trails, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and preserving non-motorized trails in the Grand Traverse region.

Named after King Gustav Vasa, a monarch in Sweden several centuries ago, the Vasa Pathway is also host to three of the Midwest’s most popular ski events.

A portion of your entry will go to maintain the Vasa Pathway but feel free to drop a couple bucks in the trailhead donation box!

The Great Beerd Run

Join us at the Pavilion Tent for our third Beerd Run- a 5k fun run designed to celebrate all things Beer and Beard. This is an untimed run with on course beer tastings featuring Beards Brewery, Short's Brewery and Right Brain Brewery.

Additionally, we will feature a Best Beard competition with both natural and assisted categories.

Turkey Trot

The 9th Annual Up North Media Traverse City Turkey Trot has been a family favorite for the past nine years. We start Thanksgiving day off right with two different race distances; a 5K and a 5 mile, to promote healthy lifestyles as well as give back to local charities. All runners receive a commemorative long-sleeved Turkey Trot t-shirt as well as draw string style grab bag loaded with bottled water, coupons and SWAG worth well more than the price of entry! Invite the whole family to participate in this one-of-a-kind event in Traverse City, MI.

Farmland 5k

The Farmland 5K Run and Free for All Bike is Traverse City's winter weather running and biking event held in the spirit of European style cross country held on a dedicated cross country course on private farmland.  A classic turfgrass course awaits you with knee high barriers including straw bales, fallen logs, wood fence and stone fence.  

2017 Event Schedule

Friday, December 1, 2017:
4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.  - Packet Pick up at Einstein Cycles in Traverse City

Saturday, December 2, 2017:
10:00 a.m. - Event site opens for parking and packet pick-up.  Warm fires and porta jons stand by to keep you warm and ready. 
10:30 a.m.  - Late registration and packet pick-up opens on-site.
12:00 noon - 5K foot race, mass shot gun start.
12:30 - Post Race Party Starts!  And go ahead, set up your own tailgate party!
1:00 p.m. - "Free for All" bike race, mass shot gun start.
1:15 p.m. - Awards at the Hay Wagon, Top 3 in age category, special awards to overall, masters and super masters, teams and costumes.
